Rising damp is caused by the breakdown of an existing damp proof course, resulting in damp rising up, through capillary action, from the ground to approximately one metre above floor level.
Damp is quite common in older properties where the damp-proof course has either broken down, or is non-existent. In severe cases, there will be a tide line at low level which may also
cause the skirting boards to rot.
All of our surveyors are experienced and qualified to CSRT (Certified Surveyor in Remedial Treatments) standard and will determine the source and extent of dampness and where necessary provide recommendations for treatment. We use only approved materials for our damp proofing work, and strictly adhere to the codes of practice laid down by the British Standards Institute
BS 6576:2005 for diagnosis of rising damp walls of buildings and
installation of chemical damp-proofing courses.
